She began her acting career on local stages, where she performed in productions such as “Our Town” and “The Wizard of Oz.” A model agency scout spotted her during a visit to the local mall, and her modeling career took off very quickly. During her high school years, Bledel graced catwalks in Japan, Milan Los Angeles and New York. Bledel was graduated from the Page Parkes Center for Modeling and Acting before enrolling as a film major at N.Y.U. As her career began to take off, she started to use her middle name as a stage name in order to protect her privacy. All hope of slipping under the radar disappeared when Bledel was chosen for the role of Rory in “The Gilmore Girls.” Despite her dislike of doing interviews and being the focus of attention, Bledel now says she couldn’t imagine life without “The Gilmore Girls.” She fell in love with and married one of her co-stars.
